Praxis users on Twitter, and community support

The Praxis user community, spread out across five sites (welcome to the fold, EnglishPod!) is without a doubt our company’s biggest strength. One of the things we’re trying to do more of is help our users connect and build relationships with other users — we do, after all, believe that learning is a strongly social activity.

One small step to that end is the new Community page on this blog. Right now it has a small but growing list of our users that are active on the microblogging service Twitter (message @chinesepod with your Praxis username to get added to the list!), but will expand in the future to help bring our users together.

If you have any ideas of what we can do with this page, or other efforts to support the Praxis community here on LOYT, let me know in the comments are directly via e-mail.

1 Comment to Praxis users on Twitter, and community support

  1. Hi there!

Recently there was an interesting discussion at SpanishPod about English-speaking SpanishPod users on EnglishPod:

I think this is a real opportunity and challenge for Praxis: how can users of one Praxis site participate in discussions on the Praxis site about their native language? I guess one first step would be to allow subscribed users of any Praxis site to post comments in all lessons (not just newbies) of all other Praxis sites.

Another point is that Praxis could offer additional opportunities for their users to share, discuss, and create material (e.g. transcripts). One way would be to offer a wiki. And if you want to be really serious: offer your whole sites as wikis such that users can correct and extend most of the material.

Here is my own attempt to create such a wiki with some newbie lessons of SpanishPod: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Spanish_by_Choice/SpanishPod_lessons
Any comments about this site are very welcome!

    Martinillo
